Bhutan is accessed via international flights into Paro International Airport, with direct connections from key regional hubs including Delhi, Dubai, Singapore, Bangkok, Kolkata, and Kathmandu. International services are operated by Bhutan's national carrier Druk Air, as well as Bhutan Airlines, the country's commercial operator. Within Bhutan, regular domestic flights operate from Paro to the regional airports in Bumthang, Yongphula, and Gelephu, allowing efficient movement for multi-region programmes. Charter flights on both carriers from regional hubs can also be arranged and are a practical and affordable option for MICE groups seeking greater flexibility. In addition, Gelephu International Airport currently operates a bi-weekly service to Kolkata. All international visitors to Bhutan are required to pay the Sustainable Development Fee (SDF), which supports education, healthcare, infrastructure, and environmental protection. Bhutan welcomes visitors of all nationalities, with no nationality-based visa restrictions. For approved MICE groups, Bhutan's Department of Tourism may offer SDF waivers or reductions, subject to eligibility, group size, and programme structure. Himalayan Echoes manages all visa processing and SDF coordination on behalf of MICE clients, working directly with the relevant authorities to ensure clarity on costs, timelines, and compliance — allowing organisations to focus on programme design rather than administration.

Bhutan offers a diverse range of settings within a relatively compact geography (our country is the same size as Switzerland!). Within a single journey, groups can move between historic towns, river valleys, forested hills, and sacred sites, allowing programmes to evolve naturally while maintaining focus and momentum. For meetings and events, places of interest are selected for their relevance to the group's objectives rather than their popularity. A strategy session might be anchored in Paro, with discussions framed around heritage, continuity, and stewardship — drawing on settings such as the beautiful new Pangbisa Dzong, which offers a culturally grounded and inspirational environment away from crowds. Leadership or future-focused programmes may centre around Gelephu Mindfulness City, where conversations on long-term planning, systems thinking, and sustainable growth are informed by Bhutan's most ambitious development vision. Other programmes may incorporate river valleys for reflection and walking meetings, forested hills for team alignment and reset, or sacred sites that provide a deeper cultural and ethical frame for discussion. Each location is chosen to support the flow of the programme, anchor key conversations, and create conditions for focused engagement and meaningful outcomes.

Activities for MICE groups are designed to support the objectives of the programme. Options include guided walks and walking meetings through valleys or forest trails, forest bathing, and cultural encounters such as private monastery visits, conversations with monks or artisans, and traditional arts workshops including weaving, painting, calligraphy, or meditation sessions with monks or nuns. These quieter experiences are often used to deepen reflection, anchor key discussions, or mark transitions within the programme. For groups that benefit from more physical or experiential engagement, activities may include rafting on Bhutan's rivers, archery sessions, horse riding, motorbike journeys, half-day hikes, or river-side walks. Programmes may also incorporate astrology readings, sound bathing, or traditional mask dance performances to offer cultural and contemplative perspectives unique to the region. Shared meals with local families, visits to farms or craft communities, and simple outdoor rituals are often woven into the itinerary to encourage connection and informal dialogue. There is no pressure to fill every moment — space and unstructured time are treated as deliberate design choices, particularly for leadership, strategy, and board-level gatherings where clarity often emerges between sessions rather than during them.
